Rhancock,
Thanks for that link
There doesn't seem to be a #150 on the page, and I had a look there to see if there was a large countersunk screw like mine on any others...nothing seen.
Somewhere in the back of my brain is a memory of seeing a webpage with a restoration on the #150, but I can't find it after searching for quite a while.
Thanks again,
Peter

Funny.. I thought I remembered something like that on one of the US forums.. can't find that either. The writer either said it was awful or wonderful.. I wated to know which.
I gave the bolt a squirt and will either take piccies or pop it in my pocket on the weekend. Hard to tell what it is under all the gunk atm.Best regards, Luban

Luban,
Good to see you at the tool sale.....
would you believe the screw is a standard 5/16 inch 18 tpi Whitworth thread, by chance the same as the famous back iron screw!
And the blade locking screw from the parts plane I had bought, the #143 plough, is a perfect fit in the angle lock, but that would be a bit of a waste...think I might be able to pass that to someone who is absolutely stuck. I will make a proper screw, I have the 1/4 inch 28 tpi tap and die set, it is another standard, but a little uncommon SAE thread.
Great to introduce you to Graeme P, but I might save that story for another post...perhaps a HTPAA tool sale report...
Regards,
Peter....
Who is much lighter in gross tool weight

hi gents,
well I hit the motherload of old tools today, literally a trailer full. See "started my hotrod" by billy on toys forum, where I've put a bit of a description up.
cheers, billy

Would love to see a tool sale like that in Brisbane. This is one very jealous cat.
Although I did write a pamphlet up for a letter box drop asking people if to check their sheds etc for any old woodworking tools they'd like to sell. Dropped 4 streets in my area yesterday and got a call today from a gentleman who gave me these for free. Will start dropping the rest of my area in a couple of days.

Thanks. Dropped in Aspley, Brisbane. No other phone calls yet but I'll going for a walk to do a few more streets this afternoon as I have some free time on my hands.
I cleaned up that little 101 block plane this morning. Is anyone familar with this type of plane? I've looked up the Stanley 101 and it looks identical but the blade has HB on it with what look like a pair of wings?Last edited by Denim; 21st July 2009 at 02:05 PM. Sweet. I have a #101 and it is my favourite and most useful plane.
I will have a look at the blade tonight for you and see what is on it, if anything.

Denim,
A very useful little plane..nice one!
I think your 101 might be one of the many 101 Stanley clones...could be European.
The blade logo doesn't ring a bell with me.
The Stanley 101's I have don't have raised numerals, they have embossed numerals. (like engraving cut into the surface)
Mine are pretty early though, and I can't recall if the later ones had raised numerals..??? any out there?
Regards,
Peter

I'm pretty sure mine doesn't have numbers at all. I will have a look tonight and let you know.

Couldn't make the Sale for many pointless and unreasonable reasons but was given this from a friend who didn't think he'd ever use it Attachment 111573

japaning is perfect on the body but lever cap has a scrape , and the thread on the wheel is a little stripped on the end, otherwise very happyLast edited by Ian Wells; 22nd July 2009 at 04:51 PM. Reason: idiocy, spelling
