    Hi Deesinister

The Brades catalogue is a beauty. If you scan the pages and send them to Gary Roberts at http://toolemera.com/, he can turn into a PDF and make generally available (he has a couple of my scans on the site, and I need to do more). This sort of resource is terrific, be interesting to see if my Brades axe is in the list.

    Cheers

    Default Trademe win

Hi all. I won these on Trademe on Sunday, picked them up Tuesday. $NZ32.00

There are two rebate planes: the top one is a Stanley #78 (UK) complete with fence, but the depth stop is missing (and the thumb screw is broken off in the body); the lower one is also a Stanley #78, but US made circa 1910-1925. The block plane is a Stanley #110. The plane iron is a 2" jobby. The other is a surform.

I've derusted the rebate and block planes, and the 2" iron, in a critic acid bath. The UK #78 has a good flat sole, but some of the rust pitting in the nose is a bit deep. The block plane has a warped sole, but I've got it near flat, except for the extremities of the sole. The 2" iron has a lot of pitting on the face and may have to be ditched. I haven't looked closely at the USA #78. The surform will go back on Trademe.

I've been after a #78 for a few months. The block is a bonus. I'm pleased.

    Cheers, Vann.

Hmmm... first attempt at posting a photo - unsuccessful by the look of things

I've flicked Gary an email asking him how best to send them, and have taken the photos.
They're 121mb in all and would be illegible at the sizes aloud on this site. so we'll see.
In the interim what pattern no is your axe. I'll let you know.
    Cheers

Sunday - first day at the markets for about a month.
These were tucked away in a corner.
Three straight edges that convert to three squares with an added slide-on 90 degree fitting.
All have a see through plastic hard edge and nary a chip or scratch.
Made in Japan for the draughting trade I would guess.
    1.2m, 900mm and 450mm
Just the ticket for the shed.
    Princely sum of $5
    Straight to the poolroom.

    Cheers SG

I'm told that it is from a Stanley #78 rebate plane, which I hope is correct.

I've been trying to find a pic too, but of the Sharmanco that I have with no luck. Record are very similar, so far as the piece that Wongdai has. Both planes did the same thing.

    No from a 78....

Looks like it's from a 044 variant. Very similar to the Marples clamp (the red bit).
