    Default Mortice Machine.

    Hi all,

I am considering selling my Great Grand-fathers 1900
there a bouts Mortice Machine. It is a hand powered machine.
He bought it in around 1900 s . I always said I would not sell it.
My father used it when he retired in the early 80 s. I tried it once
    but was not easy.

My grandfathers carpenters shop had a similar machine. They made a lot of sash windows and doors.

    Default Mortice Machine.

    Hi all.

With this Mortice machine you could get
different parts to create a Boring machine and a
part to make Venetian Blinds which I do not have.
I think I have pictures in a book which shows this.

    Martin.

Nice machine. Can we see a close-up picture of the chisel part, if possible?

    Default mortice machine

    Hi,
Here is a few pics of the Bit holder. You can turn the small lever from the right then centre then left so as to mortice different ways. I have the catalogue from which my Grandfather purchased it from. Martin IMG_20221130_092504.jpg

    Default Just get a serf.

Never seen one this old. Looks like a hollow chisel morticer with hand cranking where new ones would have a motor. Good leverage though, But hard to do single handed. Have seen people use something similar that you drilled out the excess then rammed in a heavy duty mortice chisel for cleaning up the edges. Get ye a serf to wind the crank.
