And I had forgotten seeing this ...

Josh Clarke, regular on the "Oldtools" list. Are you watching this page?? Tools for Sale Updated 7th Jan, another update scheduled for 21st Jan. He just sold this bow saw, http://www.hyperkitten.com/pics/tool...ingBowsaw.html, VERY interesting cross brace to store spare blades. He discovered it when he was pulling it down to post!! If you want to buy US planes, send him a note. Peter

These are on the other side of the world from me but could be mine for the cost of postage (not the box). Worth it? i'm not sure but i think that is one set of hollow / rounds on the top left of the box.

There are at least 5 inside the box. The side-bead on the top seems to have the wrong blade for the body ... next to the tongue plane next to the moving fillister/fenced rebate. The first one looks like it might be a round. The second one looks like it might almost be square across - or squarish with a lip.

Can you get more photos specifically of the planes? US planes will have different makers from UK planes.

What would postage be - about the $40/$50 mark?

    Could be cool.
    Paul.

Default Moulding planes and their use?

... is there anyone who uses a full set of h&r's on a regular basis??
Is there much you can't do with a half set (or three or four) that you can with the full?

They look a bit like (nice looking) clutter to me I'm afraid.
...I'll just make the other bits smaller.

I think if your going to spend a thousand dollars I would rather go for this HNT Gordon obviously because they're new and of high quality even though they are pricy but then again I worked it out if I were to make them I would probably save around $100 or less per plane still a substantial savings and worth pursuing. Check this video out with Roy Underhill on mouldings I'm sure you'll enjoy it and learn something as well as I did. Video: Making Marvelous Moldings | Watch The Woodwrights Shop Online | PBS Video

Thanks. I didn't know he did H&Rs. Very cool stuff.

    Cheers,

I finally ordered the (old) video on Sharpening Handsaws by Tom Law ... and got Hollows & Rounds by Tom Herrli at the same time. It was very good - about 90mins I think. He makes a pair of #14 H&Rs on the video.

    Here's a snippet.
