Yep, mine are cone nuts, and luckily they're in really nice shape, with clean threads and straight posts. It's not easy to find matching replacements for them.

I don't think they're reading the patent date correctly.

US Patent: 216,091 - Saw with Thumb Notch

Interesting side plated saws, and good advice on saw blade cleaning. (two pages)

That WMC #2 is getting close in some elements to your saw.

Also - the S&J 1931 catalog says done the bottom that you can order side-plates

    Toby-

Thanks for your note. I appreciate you visiting my site. I haven't updated that "interesting tool" page in a while. I suppose it's due. At some point my site was updated and I lost the page with the description. You can see more pictures of it here:

The 7 1/2 was essentially a ship-point no. 7 with a larger handle that allowed a user wearing gloves to get a good grip.
I've only seen one, and this was it.
    Thanks!

According to Disston 1918 catalog ... the 7 1/2 is a pruning saw ... same shape as the #7 ship saw - as Josh said.
With an enlarged handle - again - as Josh said.
(There was also a D100 ship saw.)
