    Default Mystery tool ID ??

    I found this thing in an abandoned shed years ago and haven't a clue what it was used for. Any one here ever seen one before or know what it is?? thanks...

    I've not seen one before, but I think it is a retractable bench stop.
    From what I can see it would attach to the edge of the workbench so that the toothed edge on the top side of the tool faced the timber. It looks like it can be adjusted for height.
    Of course it could also be something else altogether.

    The toothed face and adjustable height - I'll go with Scribbly I have never seen these on anything other than a planing stop

    If we're right, it is either designed for a southpaw or it attaches to the bench at the back or the side for right-handers.
    Interesting old tool anyway.
