Mystery Tool Maker: "METRO" Brand - INFO?
Hi there
In my continued search of Dad's tools I cam across this little fella.
It is, I imagine a tool used with sockets, that's not where the mystery lies.
The only branding on this tool is one word METRO.
I have no idea if it is an Aussie tool or from overseas. It's the only one of that brand in all the gear I inherited.
Googling Metro Tool Socket brings me 100000000's of hits, mainly in reference to Metro delivery.
There is a reference to "Metro" on HTPAA, but the description of the type of products they produce does not match my example.
Any feedback you can give is much appreciated as I try to ID all these tools and figure out what to keep and what to chuck
thanks for looking

Can't be certain but it looks as if it is part of a set of sockets. There were a few cheap hex drive socket sets coming on the market thirty or more years ago and you come across bits of them occasionally in junk shops. If that's the case it was probably made in Taiwan.
Cheers,
Jim

Mystery tool
Jim is correct it is part of a socket set. My Dad had a set. I can first rember it 65 odd years ago. it consisted of a shallow metal tray in wich I think contained 6 sockets the ends of the tray bent up and the bar you have pictured slid through a hex hole in each end and kept the sockets in place. Ths sockets were SAE so I would think it was made in USA.

thanks guys, so far we all agree that it's a hex socket handle, but the age and origin is still unconfirmed. one vote for Taiwan, one for the US, could be anywhere from 30-65 years old
any more ideas out there? anyone got one for show and tell?

yep cheap stuff, the hex bar held all the sockets in place and it hung from a wall!
