John, they look amazing! I do hope Trent develops reliability. His work is sublime, and I would love to see him thriving by staying on top of demand. I gave up a dozen years ago.

    Merry Christmas!

    Regards from Perth

Damn nice set of chisels you got there Johnno!

Rosewood, brass, steel, some leather and a bit of skill. Remarkable the beauty and variance those otherwise mundane materials can produce.

I second Dereks comments. I'd really like to see Trent get this together.

    Cheers!

I think he might be in a better place now ,he seems a bit more upbeat.
I do hope he gets back into producing the quality tools he is known for ,the problem with quality output is getting snowed under with orders that is hard to keep constrained moreover if you're a one man outfit.
Must admit that many times with countless emails I nearly gave up on this order,I am glad that patience now has proven it's worth.

Does Trent still run a one-man show? I can't help thinking that if he had the support of someone with more business sense, maybe even only part-time, it would be an enormous help. Sometimes the best craftsmen are just that; capable of turning out product of the highest quality, but simply hopeless at organizing anything else. Terry Gordon is the exception that proves the rule....

Either way, hopefully Trent is in a better headspace now, and can continue to fulfill his many back-orders. Maybe if he can get the backlog of orders down to just 6 months or so, then think about taking on new orders?

I'm actually impressed that he has continued to deliver orders, in some cases years after they were taken. Many others would have just walked away leaving their customers out of pocket.

Do we know if anybody else is receiving a chrissy present?

Your patience is admirable, but it is also well rewarded. We all know the quality of H & S, but those Desert Rosewood handles are exceptional by any standard.

Those chisels are absolutely stunning. Please forgive my ignorance but who is Trent and what is the name of his business? I would love to see more of his work.

    Thanks,

    Peter

I have a correction to make on the first post in that the Ultimax set is supposed to consist of six ,Trent in his good nature has included an extra one to compliment the set.

Nice, they are beautiful! I love the brass ferrules.

I have a set with the same handles of desert rosewood. Pictures don't do the timber justice, it is amazing stuff. When i picked my set up he said that he wasnt doing the older style with brass ferrules anymore. He must be finishing off older orders or changed his mind? I'm waiting on a 1/8th to complete my set and he has my 1 1/4 waiting to be picked up.

Enjoy them, they are truely remarkable and of all the nice tools i have, his chisels are hands down my favourite. I havent needed to sharpen mine yet and have used them quite frequently.

    Johnno, JW,

How did you attach your handles?
