Default Nicholson #49 Patternmakers Rasp - anyone got one?

Does any body have a Nicholson #49 Patternmakers Rasp that they could measure for me please?

I need to know the thickness and width of the untoothed shoulder to the nearest 1/10mm, and also the width of the blunt tip.

    Hi Brett,

I should have cleaned it... not sure exactly where you want to measure.. the tip width is 1/2" or 12.7mm

The untoothed strip varies, and the teeth aren't centered, but at it's widest it's 2mmm give or take..

    Hi Ray

Bewdy. The place to measure is between the "Nich" stamp and the teeth - overall width should be around 22mm at a guess, and the thickness would be 4-5mm? In other words I want to use the formula I have work out the radius of the blank, before toothing - I have a cunning French plan, my Lord . The width doesn't really have to be to the nearest 1/10mm - the edge teeth will affect that anyway.

    Hi Brett,

    That's 22mm x 3.8mm at the untoothed section where it's stamped.

    Regards

    Great! Thanks very much Ray.

As I thought, it's pretty close to a 200mm Cabinet Makers which has a radius of 16.9mm, where the #49 has a radius of 17.8mm, so it's just a little flatter - I doubt there'd be much practical difference in the radius. The biggest difference is that the #49 is 250mm long, and with a blunt end (that part is easy).
