New (OCT 2005) Bessey Clamp Order
There is a new Bessey Clamp order going on.
Basically, we are attempting to use a local dealer and the Bessey distributor here in Australia to get a good deal on Bessey items based on
- a single big order
- minimal admin by the local dealer by using centralise shipping locations where we
can
For details about how this NEW order started and other details, see the last few pages of the thread

For quick access to the collation form see the thread

Cross post - INITIAL indicative pricing
Hi Peoples,
So far, we have intent to orders for 120 assorted clamps - mainly K-bodies, but some others as well. This is somewhat less than the 350 or so we all ordered from 'LV05', but 120 is still a sizeable lot.
I have some INDICATIVE pricing based on just 120 clamps. We expect better prices providing we can get more clamps ordered. These prices EXCLUDE freight (to either collection point or your front door).
K60 $46
K100 $63
K125 $66
K150 $76
KP Block Set $32
If we use the 2 x K60, 2 x K100, 1 x KP example from LV05 to Brisbane that Darryl posted which was AUD220.00 to the person's front door, we are looking at AUD250.00 at present for the same (EXCLUDING freight).
We don't have discounted pricing on the other Bessey lines, as yet, for when we ask the importer, "How much?", they say, "How many?". For the moment, we are ASSUMING that a similar discount to that which results in the above pricing will apply to the other Bessey items, but as yet, we can't confirm this.
I suppose the point of this post is to give people an idea of what they will be saving and also to entice others to consider ording some clamps so that we can get even lower pricing.

Just visited Lee Valley and they have the K bodies sets as follows:
A. 2x 300 and 2 x 600 clamps - $97US $127.50AUS
B. 2x600 and 2x 1250 clamps - $115US $151.17AUS
Northwood's prices for the same thing work out as follow:
A. $? as the 300mm aren't priced
B. $224
Freight is to be added to both.

I suppose this means we need to ORDER more!!! To get the quantities up and hence the price down.
Just so people don't misunderstand, the prices I quoted were as delivered to Colin's warehouse. That is, the freight component would be shiping from his warhouse to a collection point or direct to one's front door depending on what option you want.Burn

The A set from LV is VERY tempting to get via surface mail using UPS, thereby avoiding GST + duty that would apply to Northwood's products. The B set would have to go by airmail due to its length and probably end up being comparable in terms of final "to the door in Australia" price to Northwood's.This time, we didn't forget the gravy.

Youre right Andrew.
It must of changed from this afternoon to tonight.
They are phenomenal prices.
A= <$100
B= <$116

I've asked Rob if he could provide shipping costs for each of the single sets. We can then look at landed prices to one's front door and make a better comparison and we can then see what our current order quantity of about 130 clamps now will get us from Hordon & Co.
Not sure what time it is but our friend Rob has just replied he'll get the figures to us in the morning (their time).
Stay tuned!Last edited by burn; 29th September 2005 at 10:11 PM. Reason: Ever-vigilant Rob

Surface (8-12 Wks) $ 76.57 $ 91.82 $126.04
Xpress (5-10 Bus Days) $132.61 $159.14 $225.72
UPS (5-6 Bus Days) $187.16 $224.06 $311.42
These figures come from .... (in USD)
Surface (8-12 Wks) $57.98 $69.53 $95.44
Xpress (5-10 Bus Days) $100.61 $120.50 $170.92
UPS (5-6 Bus Days) $142.16 $169.66 $235.81
So, a set B from Rob will be $117.00 + $91.82 = $208.82 in your front door in Sydney.
At present, a made up set B from Colin would be $224.00 plus local freight. This is certainly close to Rob's.
Naturally, if we ordered 350 clamps again and made up goods to generate 5 skids the above freight would be MUCH MUCH less but then we can add in duty, gst, fumigation .....
My belief is that some of you have been waiting for this pricing information before committing. I think the prices are reasonably close. If the rest of those interested come out of the shadows and commit now, then Colin should be able to negotiate better prices and hence get us a better deal ... perhaps a better negotiated deal will mitigate the local freight costs!

One other advantage of going with Colin is that you can get the exact clamps you want as opposed to specific sets. Not a huge point, but being able to get 3 K150's and 2 x K60's can be an advantage.
