The first link is interesting, the style of those planes has remained relatively unchanged, except for the irons being replaced by something more modern.
I saw a post not long ago where someone was slinging poo in an aggressive way at woodwell tool (mujingfang) accusing them of blatantly ripping off Terry Gordon's style of planes. I thought that was worth a chuckle, I did notify them that those were chinese style planes to begin with, nobody believes you when you tell the truth, though, and it falls in favor of the Chinese).
Never seen or heard of the metallic planes, though, certainly if they ever made it to these shores, Lord Stanley would've purchased the company to stop it!

That's pretty amusing, alright, DW. I read somewhere way back that Terry himself acknowledges the inspiration for his planes came from Asian originals. He has added some touches of his own, like the rotating brass abuttments, but even for those the principle predates HNT Gordon. There isn't a lot new under the sun.
And Terry didn't invent making an excellent product at a reasonable price & giving customer service far better than average, either, but we sure appreciate it!!
Cheers,IW

Food for thought
Hi,
Two thoughts spring to mind
1) The only thing new under the sun is the history you have not learned.
2) The only thing new is knowledge, all the ingredients for all the wizz bang inventions have always been here, we just did not know how to put them together
before.
RegardsHugh
Enough is enough, more than enough is too much.
