Hi TS,
Just a small point of clarification, (I get confused easily these days).
Post 1 says the longer blades are both 250mm and 300mm long.
Post 6 says they are 250mm.
Post 1 PDF shows them as 250mm.
Post 1 PDF Chisel Batch Order says they are 300mm long.
Are the longer blades 250mm long or 300mm long? Am sure somebody will pick this up soon.
Cheers
Pops

Those would be my choice as well. It is a problem of getting some in Melbourne.
We will have three timber choices, my tops three would be Ringed Gidgee, Macassar Ebony, and Zebrano. My next three choices would be any heavily figured Tasmanian Blackwood, or Myrtle. Koto would make spectacular handles.
Have a look at some of the timbers:

Pops - Thanks for spotting that - I have corrected the inconsistencies. It was meant to be 250 mm not 300 mm. All fixed.

Yes please
I'm still keen and inclined to go with option 4, however, that is dependent on a firmer cost estimate once the last two service providers have quoted a price for Helmut to include in the calculations.
Also like Pops, I am a little unsure if the offered lengths are 150 and 250 or 150 and 300. It is late and I have just got home from work but a differential of only $2.00 per chisel for double the steel (based on an assumption of 150 and 300 lengths) seems unlikely to me but I am often wrong.
Helmut, are you able to clarify the precise chisel lengths offered please along with the more up to date price and I will commit definitively at that point

chisel order
Hi TS,
Put me down for either option 03 or 04, just wondering whether the longer length is a better option for me,
Can anyone offer an opinion on y they might choose the longer over the shorter length.
Peter.

Peter, it is a mater of preference. The longer chisel will have more spring. If you ever used a long chisel you can bend it, especially the narrow chisels. I watched a guy using a Robert Sorby Long Parring Chisels and he could bend the chisel almost 35 mm. When pairing on the horizontal. The flex makes paring easier.
I have sold old chisel which has this bend in the chisel, I find it much nicer to control the chisel, thanks to the curve. Why I like the curve, or why it is better, I do not know. Just that I do.
The shorter chisels will have a firmer feel. Less bounce. It is a personal thing. I think the shorter chisel would be better if you tend to pair perpendicular to your work, pushing down.
Ray, the inconstancy was fixed above and in the pdf, when Pops spotted it, the length are 150 mm and 250 mm. As said in thihttps://www.woodworkforums.com/showpo...7&postcount=20s post.
I will confirm details asap.

Helmut
Please put me down for Option 6. I'll go with whatever wood you and the group decide on for the handles.
