Hi TS
Was wondering what program you were using to do the drawings and pictures of the handles.

Hi TS
Can you put me down for Option 5. When the final handle timber is decided I'll let you know.
Regards and thanks

Hi TS,
could you put me down for an option-1 set please

I originally thought I'd go for option 4 (the 250mm length), but I've changed my mind, after having a good hard look at a 3mm chisel I have. After the side bevels are cut this chisel is going to be little more than a needle with 3 corners, so at 250mm I think there would be too much flex.
Helmut, can you please change my order from option 4 to option 3.

Paring Chisels
Hi TS
I was telling my mate (a retired instrument maker) about the paring chisels. He has offered to show me how to make my own from scratch, including tempering.
Consequently I would like to cancel my order and wish everyone all the best with their chisels. I will post some pictures when available but don't hold your breath as I seem to have more interruptions than work achieved.
Cheers. Jim

Hi Kevjed - I am OK- I am working on an essay on 5 icon chairs of the 20th century. Interesting stuff.
In regards to the timber, going by members choices, to date:
Myrtle, Ringed Gidgee, and Wenge are the most popular. Some others contenders are Padauk, and Tasmanian Blackwood.
Myrtle, I have not found a seller in Melbourne who could sell us some Nice figured myrtle. The Ringed Gidgee we could get from Bushworker, who is a member on the forum who is down in the Mornington Peninsula. The Wenge we could get from Australian Furniture Timbers.
Bushworker, has some lovely timber, I am hoping to strike a deal with him. It would make thing easier if we could score all our timber from him. I have been emailing him, and will keep you informed. I need to get a species list from him. I know he has Ringed Gidgee, Belah, Red Mallee, and Figured Sugar Gum.
I will keep seeing what people would prefer, as they join the order. Then towards the end we will make a choice of the top three, then members can choose their timber from one of the three.
I contacted Ivan and John about confirming the grinding cost. John is away until the 20th so I will have to wait until then to get a price from him.
At the moment we have just filled about 1 1/4 sheets of M2 3.5 mm. I will wait for 5 more people to join the order, then we will start the ball rolling.

Hi TS,
Put me down for Option 6 - timber preference Blackwood, Myrtle or anything that the esteemed group wants and looks good. Not critical.

Thank you
MarkDon't force it, use a bigger hammer.
Timber is what you use. Wood is what you burn.
