Default Paul Sellers - Toothing a backsaw from scratch

Different again from what I have seen.
Pretty good idea in the fb comments to use a threaded rod that suits the pitch of teeth you want.

I emailed paul about a saw ihad recently that needed new teeth. He said can you wait a few days theres going to be a tutorial on how to sort this exact problem out. Just downloaded it this morning, will be getting stuck into my saw soon. so great because its such a large tenon saw i just wanted to make it last longer instead of buying a new decent saw worth $200 or so. Glad i get to put some life into the old tools because of this video. Anyone with this problem that doesnt know how to set the teeth should watch this. very handy

This jig is faster and probably more accurate especially at high TPI counts than PS's method.

Yes but I own a hacksaw. None of that stuff in your post

Actually re-readig your thread it looks awesome, thats a very impressive bit of kit to sharpen saws. I would attempt to make one myself if i had a metal lathe and thread and tap kit etc.

Wasnt aware tha thread existed Cheers

Sure - that can be said about many things on the forum.

FWIW no MW lathe was used to make that rig. The ally cylinder used to make the capstan hub and the bit of telfon came from a scraps bin at work but they could be easily substituted with other objects or materials. that rig was made with hand tools ( including Imperial BDW taps), a drill press, and the ally pieces were cut with a WW TS.

Wasnt aware tha thread existed Cheers
This is a fundamental problem with the web. Info gets deeply buried and the search tools are still not smart enough to ferret the info out from the chaff. It's also quite natural to believe that stuff like this hasn't already been done so most folks wouldn't even bother to look for it.
