Default Now could be the perfect time to sell on eBay

Think there is a perfect storm in a small number of listings and tons of people browsing, I've been selling my surplus on eBay for years and I've never seen anything like this. Five days to go on my auctions and all 3 of the planes listed have far exceeded the prices I'd thought they sell for. Nothing special either, just some English Stanley planes (4 1/2, 5 & 6).

    Go go go!

I have heaps of stuff on gumtree and FB marketplace. I don't do ebay because of their fees and "buyer protection". All a buyer has to do is claim I did something wrong and I lose my item and my money.

Anyway I have never had so many enquiries. I'm just exhausted dealing with the buyers. There are plenty of bottom feeders around, and I'm finding some pleasure in giving them a solid NO and sending them packing.

It will be interesting to see if it increases or decreases with easing restrictions.

Haha funny you should mention that, I used to sell on Gumtree but returned to eBay because I got tired of low ball offers, tyre kickers and people showing up with less than the agreed price. So much wasted time.

eBay I put them up for 99c and let the action set the price. Sold hundreds of items, never had a problem. I take meticulous photos though and am well aware of the usual scams people use so I know how to protect myself. Sold an old MacBook there which is the primary target for scammers and everything went perfect.

I won't sell on eBay any more. Buyer protection is stupid. I sold a phone after I upgraded. Buyer protection kicked in and I couldn't access the funds the purchaser had paid for 30 days in case there was a problem.
GT buyers are easy to deal with. If you show up with the cash or the money is in my bank, the item is yours or I'm dropping it off at the post office.

You do get a lot of noise. Interestingly I was talking to some friends the other day on the phone and they said they got a lot more bs on FBM than gumtree, while my experience is the opposite. My sales rate is about the same for both but I get much fewer non productive enquiries in FBM. I guess it's the luck of the drawer.

Either way people are exhausting to deal with. I don't even like socialising, but dealing with people who seems to have barely 3 brain cells to rub together, or slimy con artists is trying...
