my pet rabbet
Here are some photos of my first job for the recently restored 10 1/2. We had to modify some architrave shown in the first terrible photo to match an existing installation, shown in the second photo. The lower groove had to be changed from a 90º edge to 30º and we needed about 8m done. The boss had a trip to carbatec to find a router bit to suit, but I had a feeling it wouldn't be available, which it wasn't, so I spent an hour or two working up this little jig in the 3rd and 4th photos. It was most enjoyable to be able to get exactly the angle we wanted, we did not have to compromise as may have been the case with a router bit, and it was even more enjoyable to run off those 3.6m shavings and listen to the plane go zziiiiiip
I'm finding more and more excuses to use handtools and think that slippery slope is speeding up!
Cheers

And you don't have to wear ear plugs or muffs or a dust mask and safety glasses.
