I sent the seller a message via ebay.
Hello Rodney
This is thumbsucker from the https://www.woodworkforums.com. The steel is M2 HSS sourced from Sweden, the blades were hardened to Rc 62-64. All of the components were manufactured in Melbourne, Australia. The slot in the brass sockets were made to tight fit the chisel. This was done so that the chisel would peen the soft brass and achieve a friction fit. All that you need to do is use a needle file to open up the brass sockets 0.4m, then carefully tap them down the tang, as the chisel is held in a metal working vice. To seat them snugly.
The handles were pre-drilled to 60mm from memory and a rectangular tapering mortise would need to be pared using a 3mm chisel in the set.
Hope this helps your sale.
Cheers
Thumbsucker

Yes the pace has picked up on the bidding with some time to go and the seller hasn't yet made use of Thumbsucker's additional information.
The unground chisels were a good pickup for you but not necessarily for anybody else. I am expecting to see a really nice set of 7 posted here complete with handles etc in the very near future .

Hi Paul,
I was thinking they would go for a bit more than that... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/251521824...84.m1423.l2649
But I guess without ferrules and handles, it was still a real bargain for someone.

Ray, of course I'll keep asking for information as to progress.
Unfortunately, bland reassurances such as "all good" and "Good question, it's been pretty busy around here... nothing of consequence to report.." are not good enough.
As I have asked you before, stop treating us all like fools and provide an accurate, honest assessment of what has been done to date and when you expect to fulfill your part of the contract?

On Saturday the 14th of June next Saturday at about 11 am I will be arriving in Shepparton from Melbourne to see RayG. I will take my camera to document the state of the chisels and I will find what the problem is first hand. I will then report back when I get back to Melbourne later that night.

Plane Irons?
How did the plane irons turn out?
I remember seeing pictures a long time ago, and they looked impressive. For those of you lucky enough to have grabbed one, how good are they to use/sharpen?
Thanks,
Craig
