Couldn't agree more - Ray has been left to sort out someone else's mess here, all credit to him.

That's interesting. I've never had an opportunity to put the chisels under any real stress but what they have done I've been happy with edge retention, but they're only for soft or medium density woods.
I also got a few real heavy plane blades out of it. These were beasts - 9mm thick. I've only used one but I couldn't believe how well it stood up to abuse. I planed 64x12 finger joint pine into shutter blades. There was 320 blades. Each blade took four passes per side. Each blade had at least one finger joint for an approx. total of 350. So this blade smashed through 2800 glue joints... Glue joints are notoriously hard on edges. It never chipped or ever got dull. I Sharpened it, I think 3 times, which entailed a very light touch with a slip stone and a buff. Mostly because I wanted to keep it razor sharp, even though it still grabbed the nail when tested for sharpness. To say the least, I was really impressed with its performance. Wish my shoulders stood up to the abuse as well. It's been ten years and they still haven't recovered.

that thing looks like a billet on Forged in Fire yet to be hammered out to length and thickness!
Stability through glue and contaminants is a pretty good sign of significant hardness and good edge stability.

I just wanted to thank Ray and Josh for getting these chisels to me today. They look great and I look forward to dressing them up and putting them to use. The thread started nearly 11 years ago and the plane blade and chisel journey has been a long and troubled process.
I’m proud of the product that has been a collective collaboration with Ray picking up the pieces and doing the bulk of the grinding, turning and finishing on a mammoth number of sets.
Thank you all for your contributions and efforts to make these chisels come to life.
It gives me a great appreciation for the full time tool makers.

Thanks for the kind words Kev, I'm sorry it's taken so long. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
I told Helmut that I'd post a picture of the finished paring chisels.
