SheOak
Hello All who are down for sheoak for your handles for either firmer or paring chisels. Dusteater has gotten back to me.
G`Day helmut ,
Found a spare minute to do a quote for you ,total weight of the blanks is a bit over 50Kgs so the postage would be $95 through Aus post with tracking advice. No probs about machining the blanks, the cost of each blank would be $2.80 . So the total cost including post would be $450. The Quality of the wood will be NO1, so let us know what you think. Will also throw in a few spares.
Cheers David

Hi Helmut,
Im more than happy to pay the extra cost per chisel that has been mentioned to keep things moving along. So let us know what is required and the account details and I will transfer the dollars.
regards
Mick

Update.
I got tired of waiting for this last guy to pay and holding up the process. So I used my own money to pay dusteater for the sheoak. Whenever the last set gets picked up I will just take my money from that. Dusteater says he has started the machining of the sheoak. I will sort the handles that I have and will post them to by this weekend.I still have not heard from RayG or Josh, I will give them a call this week to get an update. We need to decide on the ferrules for the firmer chisel handles. Would brass work, or is stainless steel preferred? We would buy a length of hollow tube and then cut it at set intervals on a metal lathe and a parting tool for consistency.
NeilS - Its a set of 8 paring chisels - you are first on the list.

Hi Thumbsucker,
Just picking up on the question of the firmer chisel ferrule material, personally I would like the ferrule to be consistent with the sockets which from memory was agreed to be brass.
Have you had any responses from others on this question yet? Secondly do want us to start depositing the extra $5:00/chisel mentioned earlier?
Regards
Mick

Paring Chisel set up for grabs.
As Neil has declined I am assuming it is up for grabs again. I also assume that it is preferable for these paring chisels to be bought as a set.
However, if nobody puts their hand up for the whole set I could be interested in up to four chisels between 6mm and 20mm. I am not too concerned about sizes. I should point out that I don't mind if I don't get any. I don't need any chisels at all, but this may help the financial situation and perhaps others will be willing to take advantage of the remaining chisels. It is important to me and others that further delays are minimised and a successful conclusion is reached in the near future.
As far as handles are concerned I have opted for unhandled in the firmer chisel section, but if the paring chisels come with handles, so be it. I can live with that. Although this has been a long, drawn out buy the end product is shaping up to be spectacular and as close to being unique as it can be without being a one-off.
If this is agreeable to Thumbsucker perhaps he would like to set out some guidelines for interested persons in this thread. Again I would emphasise that the purchase of these paring chisels would be preferable as a set in the first instance.
