Is this plane complete
I picked this plane up today, as a freebie. My first thought is that it is incomplete - missing a part which I think was a depth stop, which rode on the two rails on the left hand side (with plane pointing away from viewer). Is this correct ? I am uncertain because I cannot find a picture of a number 45 with the rosewood handle in the position of this one.
thanks

Here is the manual for the Record #405 which is basically the same as the Stanley #45 (which I have).

For starters, you are missing two boxes of blades.

Thanks Derek. It looks like the missing bit is not a depth guage but is the 'sliding section' (part C). It seems this bit also had one of those little spurs which nicked the grain to stop it breaking away. I dont think this plane is any use without it which probably explains why it had been thrown away.
cheers
