    Default Plane Iron pitting

Just thought I'd post this link from FWW magazine with reference to tidying up pitted backs of plane irons.
Thought it would be handy for those refurbishing old planes.

An excellent article by David Charlesworth with a point about putting a micro bevel on the back of the iron.

    Hi John,

Yes, I read that earlier today - good sound advice.

Has anyone here had a look at Mr Charlesworth's site - I'd love to get in one one of his FWW courses - except that the entry crtieria probably include "already a master craftsman"....

    Steve,

I am not sure about entry qualifications for David Charlesworth's courses, but I believe he holds them in his workshop in SW England, so, unless you have rellies to visit over there, it would be an expensive trip.

That is David Charlesworth's now famous "Ruler Trick". Please note that it is ONLY for plane blades and NEVER for chisel blades.

    Regards from Perth
