Default Plane For a Shooting Board

Would a No.7 Stanley be too long for a shooting board? I have had this plane for many years as it was my Dad's and never used it for anything and I wonder if it might be put to good use on a a shooting board.

Did you see Derek Cohen’s “Gigantic Shooting Board” for shooting/jointing drawer sides? This uses a number 7 jointer.

Thanks CT, I have an idea wandering around in my head of mounting it on a base so when it rides in the chute it will be guided by the sides of the base and the original shape will not be relied on for guidance.
