Well, look at the bright side, it is an improvement on white hoods and burning crosses.
Just in the past few days I have been wondering about the paradox that you can buy an old but not rare wooden plane in working condition for $8 but you have to fork out $400 for a new wooden plane. The technology has moved on to metal planes, so that is not the issue. If the old wooden plane were not in working order, given that it has no value as an antique, using it as firewood is a justifiable way to recycle it. What is puzzling is the willingness to buy a reproduction for 50 times the price if the original still works perfectly. I do understand somebody making a reproduction, because then the enjoyment is in the making, but buying one?

From The Superior Works - Patrick's Blood & Gore: Planes #21 - #37 :
A certain plane sect, located in the northeast, practices a bizarre and ritualistic ceremony where transitional planes are set aflame a la funeral pyre. Whether it's in homage to Leonard Bailey, to appease the spirit of Justus Traut, or is symbolic of the sect's mission in life to turn old tools into cash, no one knows for certain. Regardless, it's a sight to behold, and not to be missed, given the opportunity to witness a Trans-Ferno immolation in person. And, no, it's not done under the anonymity of a white hood.
