    Sorry Folks,
I am not going to make it to the workshop/bbq. I've been up all night with a screaming 18month old. SWMBO has withdrawn the leave pass for the day and I'm in no state to be social/plesant.
TS, I'll be in contact this week to arrange a blade swap. (over your way ish every day for the next few weeks)
I hope a great time is had by all and I look forward to the pics.
Sorry once again for pulling out at the last minute.
    Kevin

Well we've all had a fun day gas bagging, not much happened in the way of plane making but lots of techniques was discussed and the highlight was Warren from the metal supplier for our blades dropped in for the day as well and lotsa info gleaned from him as well. Neil (dai sensei) and myself have just got back from Matt's (tool) place where we polished off some pizzas for dinner .

Got a monster plane started on which is Neil's. Also Neil is asking where the group shot Groggy?
    Cheers

It was a great day, once the glue dries on the plane, Dj maybe could can run it through the jointer to clean it up and post some picts. It still needs a wedge made for it but I can do that when I go up to DJ next time. The plane was more an exercise in showing a few folks a fast and easy way to build a wooden hand plane.

A great day by all, it was nice to meet Dai Sensei, RufflyRustic and Tool, had a good talk to skew about bevel angles and Warren was bombarded left and right with questions of steel, and boy can he talk steel.

I think his camera broke, DJ. There are some very suss pix in there...

Just for the record: I finished my plane first. The others were a bit slow and didn'tseem to realise that paper folds much, much better than blocks of wood. And stays in the air longer. (Although paper cuts are a bummer.)

'Twas a good day. My thanks to Helmut and to DJ for putting us up.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

Always good to catch up with other WW's. Particularly good to catch up with Wendy after all these years

Thanks to Warren for all the steel info, I hope you enjoyed seeing the steel actually in use.

TS and Kman, great work on the plane side of things.

Waldo, I liked your sled setup, nice one mate. Ta to Neil for the donuts, I needed that after the early get up this morning; and thanks also to everyone who brought things along. Kman, tell yer missus the hamburgers were the trick.

And finally DJ, good on you for hosting another get together, and good luck for tomorrow (I won't be coming this time I decided, I need to get my bench underway).

    Thumbs up

Cept we never saw Skew's plane in action, although I can vouch for it's authenticity - I've been making them myself since I were a wee little lad.

Was a beaut day, lots of gas bagging, we made lots of dust and I had this hairy bloke who had some thing about vacuming the dust up as soon as I made it. Used an orange thing for the first time today, thanks Dj for letting me christen it.

Thanks Dj for putting up with a rowdy lot and Helmut too. Great to meet Neil and Wendy and the usual riff raff.

Thanks on the sled Groggy. And warren too, good to meet the bloke behind the steel.

Pity I can't make it tomorrow. Fatherly duties and others call me elsewhere.
I make things, I just take a long time.

Great day guys. Had fun hacking out a plane, mind you, I had a bid of a problem working with tools you can't plug in. All good experience though. Great to meet up with all the mexicans though, even though it was cold wet and windy

Those hamburgers were also really good

They day finished with a bit of wood turning of a bit of red gum that had been calling me all day. Must have been Wendy's influence Then a pizza as DJ posted.

Looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow
    Neil
