Default Hock Block Plane kit from USA

I ordered this Hock Krenove Block Plane Kit from Hock in the USA a couple of weeks ago and have finished assembling it. As you can see first go and it works a treat. Took about three hours to do but thats with honing the blade which took at least an hour to get it up to 6000 grit. I think I like these planes.

    Nice.
This style plane is suprisingly simple and they work very, very well.

Be careful... you might end up going down the slippery slope of making more tools!

I think you might have been bitten by the wooden plane bug after you bought one at the Brissy WWW show.

Don't worry, I like them too. I am awaiting some blades (third plane blade order) for just the same purpose .

How do you know I bought one at the Brissy WWW show. Yes I think I might just have had a little bite but I will not let it get to be too infectious. I just could not bring myself to part with hundreds of dollars for a Veritas block plane.

I was using this Hock plane today and the more I use it the more I'm impressed. I can't believe I only paid $80 including delivery from the USA and just a little work and bingo, it's magic.

That's good value, looks good and if it works as well as you say I can see you attempting more in the same vein.

How did I know about the plane you bought? Well it was me who suggested you duck around to Terry Gordon's stand and have a look at his planes. I was surprised, but pleasantly pleased when you returned with one of his shoulder planes for cleaning up tenons.

I would say his shoulder plane is a fine peice of equipment and yes I will most likely move in the Terry Gordon direction. I will probably try another Hock Kit in the new year maybe a smoother only because I like the fact I have something to do with its making and that I find they work well at a good price.

Yes Andy, I'm getting there, Our Woodwork Teacher and I had a session using the BU Jack and I am now comfortable and proficent with it. He said I have one hell of a good plane and is envious of me thanks to you. He used his 5 1/2 Record that he uses all the time over the last 20 years and said he wants my Veritas. He also gave me a lesson on sharpening with waterstones so I've got good at that also.
