Default Praise for Paul Williams' Blades & Tool Gloat

My Fiance's dad sent me down a very old Stanley #4 about a year ago as a very thoughtful present, and it had ruined handles, but it was such a nice solid plane, so I decided to make it my user and I made a new tote and knob about two months ago from red gum.
About a week ago I received a Paul Williams blade for it- And I've never had better steel.. I got an incredibly fine edge on it- Far better than I would have thought given what I have heard about the hardness of M2 HSS. With the plane all tuned up it takes the cleanest, breakout free shaving from the toughest timbers I have, and my goodness it holds it's edge So impressed!

Anyways tonight noone was doing anything so I thought I'd muck around with it to jazz the plane up a bit more. I had some decent offcuts of 925 Silver 3mm x 2mm lying around so I thought I'd inlay it into the tote and knob...

What do you think? I know it's a bit silly, but I figure I'll have the plane forever...

Do the go-faster stripes on the knob and handle help?
A really nice rehab. My favourite plane is still my Dad's #4 that I rehabbed, so I know you will get years of pleasure from your FIL2B's!

Fantastic. Thanks for sharing. That metal strip really makes it a unique tool. Well done.

I've been debating replacing my old stanley blades with either Hock or PW... I might look for the PW... or try one of each... who knows..

Now there's a new premium range of planes for you. Sterling silver inlay and precious stones - might end up balancing the woodworking male/female ratio.

I really like the handle and knob. Think I might try it with contrasting timbers for my old planes that need a new handle. Great look!
