    Hi Paul

Yes, I did notice your absence. Nothing nasty I hope?

I must admit to mixed feelings. The event was busy enough for vendors such as LN and Chris Vesper to feel they justified the expense of travelling to Perth (I am always conscious of this since they, and others, will only make the trip if it is viable). However I thought there could have been at least double the number attending. Perth woodies seem far too unadventurous or complacent.

I was kept busy with questions and demonstrations, and there were many who showed an interest in my planes and their construction - but not so much in building them themselves, however!

    Regards from Perth

    Derek

Is there a particular reason for the timing?

    How extensively is it publicised?

Might they not do better if they set it for soon after the woodshow, an event they could point people to aimed at getting a quieter and more personal interaction with them than they can have at the woodshow? Or some sense of something 'extra' to be experienced?

(although I know last year the LN guy said all the shows occur close together - so maybe that is problematic)

For example, the WA Sleddog Club - which I have been closely involved with for *many* years - but not the last 4 or so years - had a 'demo' day at Wightman Park on the 7th April. The members promoted it on their facebook pages, other pages such as various dog rescue organisations and at vet clinics, supermarkets, delis, etc.
The number of people who turned up was quite stunning.

Maybe they need to do a talk-spot on radio beforehand? (This might have been done with the demo day - I'm not sure)

Bunnings and Masters would be good promo points + Carbatec + Timbecon ... are they pro or anti such promotions?

Wood turning clubs, carving, men's sheds etc I suppose ...

As usual - I'm no expert

    Cheers,
    Paul

Any pics of the event? I would have gone but I was out of town.
