A very public thank you

G'day,

Well after patiently waiting it's arrived, woohoo!

The background to this happy story is that supplier, who I put a lot of work through to, and following a very large job, offered that if he could help out in any way then I just had to ask.

This offer extended, without being said by him, to the service that he provides to my clients. But if you never ask you never know. So I explained that I make toys which I donate each year to a sale that a nursing home have to raise funds, just as my Grandad did before me. And that with the addition of a thicknesser that I could make more use of timber that I could get from cabinet makers etc. as I could only currently use certain sized bits of timber to make the toys.

After a bit of thinking it over, we had a talk and he was more than happy to help me out. Top stuff!

So Wednesday I drove out to C/T and picked the beast up then Thursday I went down to Bunnies to get all the plumbing I need to hook it up to my Dusty. (nearly sent SWMBO into shock etc. with the money that cost, as well as kicking me out of the house, but you get that :eek:

)So I spent today happily timkering away hooking up the plumbing and attaching all the bits together (happliy except that some bloke in the factory in China supplied some bolts at the wrong size for the dust hood, and I busted a blast gate when hooking up the plumbing - lucky I had a spare one amongst other bursts of rage for some stuff ups "what's wrong down there?", asks SWMBO on the two way - just buggered up some $&W$W@ :mad: ) Then tonight the neighbour and I run some stock through it and without any adujustment to the blades or rollers etc. she runs like a dream.

It's currently running the supplied blades but I bought some 18% tungsten blades on standby.

So now with a C/T 15" thicknesser, CTJ-381 now sitting happily in my shed and so far as machinery is concerned my shed complete (minus some smaller stuff - there's always a "but"

)and I can make much better use of the timber that I can get my hands on and extend the range of toys I can make.

So to the person who made this all possible a very huge thank you!

Your story has made my day, good to hear a kind hearted story for a change.

My day started off reading a story about a crocked copper who got sprung dealing Heroin and is receiving a tax payer funded pension to the tune of $1700 a fortnight, oh and he has two farms, a BMW, a Landcruiser and a boat, his wife after resigning from a part-time job as a policewoman is beleived to be collecting $700 a fortnight as temporary disability pension from the Emergency Services Superannuation Scheme. Legal fees of $550,000 for him and his wife were also funded by tax payers. AND THERE IS NOTHING ANYONE CAN DO ABOUT IT!

Your story has gone some way to restoring my faith in human nature but I'm telling you it's taken a few big hits of late, all the best with your toy making and kind regards.

Yeah I know Waldo, there always will be, it's the ying and yang thing I suppose, I shouldn't get so angry but getting even seems impossible. The so called "ME" generation worries me.

Ah, but notice the ,"(minus some smaller stuff - there's always a "but" )" and there's plenty of smaller stuff than the thicknesser.

I have had the same thicknesser for 2 years and 1 day now. I have been extremely happy with it. The only change I made was to fit a digital readout system to it. This is fantastic when one gets older but refuses to use the reading glasses.
Hope the machine gives you the same pleasure it has given me until now.

I've read that a few people have fiited a digital readout, might be something to look into down the track.

I've had my eye on this thicknesser for a while now but not really the means, then the opportunity came up as it has done.

I've noticed that you didn't name the bloke that you dealt with. Is this his request or your decision?

I think an act like that needs to be commended, but could understand if your contact didn't want to be petitioned by hundreds of 'charity' cases....

Excellent work on the toy making, BTW. I'm with Lignum - love to see some pics!

I don't know that he would like his name made public, but I thought I'd play it safe so he doesn't get bombarded. I would doubt that forum members would come knocking but guests might and it isn't too hard to do a search on Google and add 1+1.

Hope the show has generated some beaut sales. That was some nice gear I saw there.

I hope this bloke will read this post. A damn large 'well done', and very generous of him.
You could have mentioned that a new TV or X-box would do, but your request is both good for your hobby, but also for the benefit of the group you assist with the toys.
A win-win for both of you.
