Hi All,
The first batch has been posted, this includes...
aaa, woodwould, interwood, pops, funky, vernonv, gimjam, goguppy, IanWells, whit68, BitsLong and Oraloon..
Next batch will go soon.
I struck a problem when I started cutting the saw plate, the roll that I had unpacked a while back has some pitting, small black dots of rust scattered at random through the roll. Wheras the other roll that was still as MikeW had packed it and was still wrapped in corrosion inhibiting paper, was clean and bright.
So I have cut the long lengths (the 1m length) from the clean roll, and selectively cut the 200mm sections from the pitted roll. Some of the pitting cleans off nicely with 1200 wet and dry and shouldn''t present a problem. I am going to need to get some more plate from MikeW for the second batch.
The lesson here is, that, when you get your saw plate, take care to oil it before putting it away in storage. I have wiped over all the lengths with a light coat of camelia oil as I was packing them, but don't rely on that longer term, use your own favourite rust preventative regime.
Regards
Ray

Thanks Ray for all your efforts.

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Good on you Ray, I'm happy to chip in a bit more to cover the extra cost of the waste.
Looking forward to making some saws.

I'd been wondering how to make a handle/cut slot in it and only just came across Rays guide now (while looking for sources for split nuts).
Most comprehensive guide I've found so far (11 pages, well illustrated/photographed)

Gathering expressions of interest for split nuts (2nd round) in a new thread.
