Good Quality Hand Tools
Could any one out there please let me know where I can purchase Good quality Hand Tools.I live in Bundaberg in Queensland and I am limited with our local suppliers. I know that years ago a Company called Garrett Wade sold beautiful hand tools through Mother Of Pearl here in Australia. Garrett Wade now only sell from America on the internetbut the postage etc is a killer. I have been able to get onto a Company called MIK and they have a selection of some tools. I would appreciate any sources for Chisels, squares, hand saws etc.I don't want to buy plastic handled rubbish. Thank's

G'day Craig
You could also give Carba Tec a try they import some extremely good handtools. Brilliant Japanese chisels, planes and more. Brisbane Ph: 07 3397 2577 Fax: 3397 2785 Ask for a catalogue.
Cheers

Hi Craig,
There is an Internet site based in NSW that has good quality tools and the prices seem reasonable (when compared to Western Australian retail prices). It might be worth having a look: http://www.thewoodworks.com.au/links.html
In many cases it has pictures of the tools, so you can get a really good idea of what your are buying. It also has an extensive book selection.
cheers Jamin Hirte

Craig,
Thanks for your reply to my "basics" topic.
I'm with Jamin! This site has LN Planes, Starrett tools, Custom made sqaures, powertools, Chisels by the dozen. You'll spend days browsing through this site. My links a bit different but it probably takes you to the same site!

Hey There, I am from USA and not thought about the shipping issue for you guys down under. I am wondering if you can use Amazon.com and sign up for Prime which gives me free shipping for a yearly fee of $99.00. If i order a lot it is very cheap. Any such deal for you? Amazon carries an enormous amount of tools.
Also Lee Valley Tools in Canada advertises free shipping on orders over $40.00 today. They have nice quality stuff, I like their veritas line. Lee Valley Tools - Woodworking Tools, Gardening Tools, Hardware
Worth a try. Stephen

I've got a listing in the Marketplace with the words "Quality Hand Tools" in the title. Heavily discounted.
Just Sayin...
Otherwise Carbatec or HNT Gordon.
