    Default Is this a record?

No, actually it's a Lee Valley Veritas 5 1/4. Ordered Saturday night, arrived today - <5 days.
At every stage of the process, LV kept me informed of what was happening. Who's a happy boy.

Good on you Alex. That plane should give you a lot of pleasure.
Lee Valley have an excellent reputation for service. Mind you, I think that all web sales businesses are very conscious of giving quick and reliable service. Keeping customers happy brings them back for more, and if the service is really good - like yours - then they usually tell someone. And this, as we all know, is the absolute best form of advertising, so the service pays for itself.
Here is a picture comparison between my Stanley 5 1/4 and your Veritas 5 1/4W.
I think yours has a wider blade and an even longer toe than mine. And I really like mine so yours should be.......... excellent.

Just back from the workshop - couldn't wait. Flattened my stones, lapped & honed the blade, cleaned & waxed the body, assembled & gave it a go.

    Excellent stuff Alex.

Shame though, some people don't seem to appreciate them, like when I recently showed FIL. Maybe it's a bug only shared by those who are chosen.

I have to agree with Alex about the great service from Lee Valley. I orderd a low angle block plane and a couple of other bits and pieces on Monday night. I got instant responses from the staff with the shipping options and the package arrived TODAY!!!

The only downside is they included a printed catalogue, so this could end up being very costly.

Have bought a lot of WW gear thru Lee Valley mainly planes and have never been dissatisfied with their prompt mailing service even to W.A.

Why do I support their product? If you have a chance to use their planes then you're generally found that little or no fault is found in the finished product.
A rarity in this day and age!!

A good buy AlexS you have a plane that will stand the test of time in functionality.

Neighbour (rocking horse maker) came in yesterday to have a go with it. I think I have led him into temptation.

Have I done a wicked thing?

    Alex,

That young lad would like you to believe he's a pure angel, but lead him down the dark path.
