Robert Sorby D8 Clone
I picked up this hand saw recently, thinking from the blurry pictures that it was an old Disston D8 in reasonable condition. To my surprise it had the kangaroo medallion of the Robert Sorby and Sons company. I didn't know that they made skew back saws. Can someone enlighten me with a bit more info? The saw itself is a beast - 28 inches rip tooth configuration with progressive pitch from 4 tpi at the toe to 3 tpi at the heel. My hypothesis is that the Glover patent saw nuts and the etch on the plate put it in the early 20th century. The etch as far as I can make out reads "Silver Steel - The Kangaroo ...? - *picture of kangaroo* - Robert Sorby & Sons - Sheffield - 86? - Fully Warranted."
Thanks,
Zac

Some historical info here:

Can you see three crowns anwhere in the etch? Not too much info around on the model range, but likely pre- 1935.
The saw looks like a good acquisition.
