    Default A few old saws

Well cleaning the shed and sorting tools and boxes and found a few saws plus a couple a guy gave me when i did a feeebie on the job.

    Paul .... sorry no Simonds

    Pete ... couple of S&J's I believe

Bottom two are SJ on screw

Then there is this no name?

A superior which i thinknis diston

    A diston

And a couple more more superiors i think

Then two baked and a plastic handle

The plastic handle is valuable only to me as it was my dads. Guess it dates to the 70ies and he died in 85

Has an unusual tooth pattern. Not sure what it is designed for. Im only a chippy, what would i know about saws lol

Feel free to share some info or ask for better pics of any that grab your interest.

Amazing what you'll find when you get the broom happening
You should start the resto of your Dad's saw first. I reckon it's cool.

I've got a nice piece of Black Walnut that could fit the bill.

A couple of my old crosscut saws have this pattern, I have always assumed that the first few inches are to establish an initial cut that the coarser teeth will fit into for some serious work.

Any idea on the deeper gullet every 4 teeth? Is it just to help clear material?

    Thanks John

I imagie the brand eta was a very ordinary brand particularly given the plastic handle.

Will have to see about aharpening this little baby and give it a run
