    Default Scartsen,skartzen chairmakers tool

    Hi all,
    I was recently talking to an old woodworker mate about how to solve a problem of mine (whilst making bows) and he suggested I try a scartsen SP? I tried googling various spellings but came up with nout.
    He described it as a small handle with a small sqwiggly S or Z shapped blade on the end and was used, one handed to pull shavings off, like a scraper.

    Anyone got any idea what he was on about?

    The scraper is called a Skarsten Scraper... Maybe the best furniture scraper ever made and unfortunately ended production about 10 years ago.
    I own the 80mm and the 62mm and have 4 unopened packets of hook blades now for sale... contact me!

    I have two that I found when sorting out my late father-in-law's tools. He was a carpenter and would have brought them over from England when the family immigrated here in the 1950's.

    I used to have a couple many years back and was rather at a loss when blades were no longer available. I cant think of anything better that has come along as a replacement.

    Still have my 2, but alas, the inability to source blades is a pain the the proverbial...I loved them.
