Are they rare?

I have never seen one either. Time for the hand plane experts to wade in.

Seems expensive, we need Derek or Mark in here.
Reality is no background music.
Cheers John

Corrugated version of a #3, hence the 3 'C'. The Gage company was bought by Stanley in 1919 (as the ad says), so theoretically this is older than that, possibly back as far as 1867. Very shiny for such and old plane though. Should be an interesting auction, it may stagnate or go ballistic depending on who is looking.
Edit: prices pre WWII are up to $150 for a 3C and up to $90 after that.

I think it has been listed three or four times.
It's a pretty good looking plane I reckon.. over priced tho imo.

He says it's highly collectable. Not if any of the bidders have anything to say about it - there were no bidders

I bought one last year for $175 US dollars. They are rare.
