    Default Very Good Service

A big thank you to Terry Gordon. I spoke to Terry Gordon at the Melbourne Wood Show about a smoother plane I bought about 1996. I had, probably through ignorance, broke one of the wooden blade stops. To fix this I had removed the other stop or what ever it is called, drilled a hole and put in a brass rod to hold the wedge against the blade. It never worked properly after that. I asked Terry about his brass wedges to see if I could buy a pair to put in the plane. He asked what I wanted to do. I told him I stuffed his plane up and wanted to fix it. He said it would be hard to drill the holes for the brass bits in the right place. He said send the plane body to me and I will have a look if it can be fixed. Apparently it was not fixable so he sent me a free new plane body. That is the best service I have ever had. Thank you very much the plane is a bit like my grandfathers axe now, but it works perfectly.

    I am learning, slowley.

Not surprised. There are a few businesses out there that provide outstanding customer service, and Terry is up there with Lee Valley IMHO.

I agree! Over several years Terry has always given me his time and plentiful advice to ensure that I have the right tools for my work, and his support for users of his tools is excellent.

I also had a long chat to Colen Clenton at the Melbourne TWWW show, and came away with one of his adjustable squares, a beautiful mortice gauge and an invitation to call in for a cuppa any time I am in his neck of the woods.

Fine craftsmanship, exemplary service and on-going support - some of Australia's best!

I'm not suprised at all by your comments. Terry is known for having great customer service. Colen Clenton is another one with outstanding service.

I have two of Terry's planes, one of which is a smoother & goes back to when he first started.
Terry is one of those rare individuals that sticks with what he wants to achieve and provides real commitment to his customers.

    Regards
