A simple hand saver
This isn't my idea, I found it somewhere, but thought I would share it.
I have woodworker's vice on my bench which has a steel bar which is used to wind the vice jaws in and out. Whenever the bar is in the vertical position, gravity kicks in and it drops down to stop with a clang against its knobby end.
I have lost count of the number of times the webbing between my thumb and forefinger has been pinched by that falling bar. Ouch - and ouch again - I never seem to learn to remove my hand in time.
Anyhoo, here is a simple fix - the ubiquitous rubber band.
With one of these on each end, the bar can fall without the clang and my hands are now safe.
Just thought I would share this - might save your hands as well.
Cheers
