Default Another slide down the slope

Rob & Company's router plane picture as found and distributed worldwide.

As I mentioned on a different forum, good thing I'm a strong person...ah, heck. Who am I foolin'?

Why does this man do this to us?

Any idea if the blades fit the Stanley #71?

Yes they do! 3 blades come with the router: ¼" and ½" straith and ½" pointed.

    Look at this tread:

Beautiful looking tool - this is surely a form of torture

I have the Stanley and I use it regularly so anyone who hasn't got a router plane and they can afford this one - Go for it.

    G'day,

What's the price of this thing compared to a quality router? Or, is it just way overpriced?
I make things, I just take a long time.

    Smile More info

From the link above (thanks farfadet):
If you look closely, the fence reverses for round work. It also has screw holes for attaching a wood sub-fence (in addition to the screw holes for attaching a sub-base). The fence is stiff, and mounts on either side of the plane body.

It comes with three blades - 1/4" forged (shown), straight 1/2", and pointed 1/2" blades ( a la Stanley - and they are compatible). The 1/2" blades are HCS (we rejected A2 as excessively costly for the function) - and are of two-piece construction. We also supply a blade holder for sharpening.

The two small brass knobs are for setting/locking heights.... we decided not to use the fine adjust we designed, as it was overkill. Note that the locking collar is trapped.

There is a patent pending on the plane... but you'll have to hang on for the real release for the explanation...

Price? Plane with all three blades will be $125. Add the fence when you buy the plane, and it'll be $135 (all USD). Fence alone (after purchase) will be about $17....

    Cheers -

    Rob

Apropos: Anyone got a neat way of sharpening these blades? I do it freehand, and it's a pain...

Better than this, Rob Lee answer from another discussion group:

    Hi Cian -

    You've got good eyes...

Yes, the blades (we have all three) will fit the Stanley's, though they are longer (you have to turn the Stanley adjustment knob upside down to use ours)...

The other two blades (1/2" straight, and 1/2" spearpoint) are two piece... and we also supply a holding fixture for sharpening.....

    Cheers -
