What to do with a broken Base Bench Plane.
Turn it into a scraper plane - that's what.
Here is a clever use of those remaining parts when the iron bench plane base was damaged beyond repair, or a cheap scraper plane was needed and made from a spare plane body and bits.

Cute, he could have cleaned up the timber a little though, saw marks etc down the sides

I think its a brilliant adaptation to what would have been a definite throw away item. Got to give him full points for thinking outside the square.
