    Default Soft blow assembly hammers

I’ve located Paul Sellers assembly hammer if anyone’s interested in getting one. http://www.sears.com/craftsman-3-pc-...4&blockType=G4 I bought and just received it I got the 24oz one which is heavy but it doesn’t leave a single mark. This is amazing I’ve never experienced this before so once more I’m over the moon. I’ve seen Paul pound away in the videos and thought my God imagine all the hammer marks but now after trying it myself it’s bloody amazing and it’s not even expensive even if you have to ship it in total it cost me $30 including shipping. Do yourselves a favour and get one before they run out.

The one in the middle picture is the rubber one stay away from the plastic version that will leave marks. I don't why they are now offering 3 pieces but two weeks ago they were separate.

This one works really well and is much more fun collecting the parts for.

You can purchase any of the three hammers, or the three-set with some replacement heads. The shipping cost is joke-cheap, so I'm gonna get me a three-set.

I don't think you should get all three the 6oz one is a plastic head which will marr your work I know because I have one that's why I bought the 24oz one it has hard and soft heads. The black tip is the soft head and it has a curve, this hammer is heavy but bloody awesome. It really leaves no marks what so ever I haven't experienced anything like it. I made a really tight dado today just to try and pound the living guts out of it anyway it was an excuse to practise my dadoes so I pounded away and no damage to the surface. Paul Sellers was right its one of the best assembly hammers around.

It took about two weeks for delivery and came in a fairly big box which proves to me that others out there are ripping us off with delivery charges. If these guys can ship items as heavy as this and in the box size I got at such low prices why can't anyone else charge actual shipping cost.

Yairs...even cheaper than Shipito, and for a lot less kilos. Granted, it's slower (I've had one parcel leave California and arrive here 26 hours later - to the door, that is).

I'll use the hard face smaller mallet for other things, and my current large rubber mallet sucks. One can never have too many persuaders.

Yes it is but I have just learned something or lets say am paying attention to something I didn't before and that the conversion rate. You paid $4 more than I did I know it doesn't sound like much but $4 in two weeks is alarming. How much will it be in a month or a year? Get the tug boats out and tow Oz closer to the rest of the world.

You can get THOR hammers here:
    http://stores.ebay.com.au/Big-Red-To...sid=1085143381

These prices are reasonably competitive. I have a Thor 712 (made in England) which is good for chisels and holdfasts; and a couple of vintage Thor hammers - a Size 3 rawhide hammer which is bloody heavy - good for knocking things apart without marring - and a Size 2 copper & rawhide that I rarely use. I suspect the Thor hammers (the 712 is $5 more expensive than a year ago) will be better quality than the Sears, I must check out the Craftsman when I am in Chicago soon.

    Cheers
    Peter

The rubber faced one is good for seating floor tiles too.

Ross, apart from the fact that you already did it, I could have offered you a ride with the three sets I'm getting for a couple of chaps. Problem would have been that it would have cost more to post it from me to you than from the USA direct to you.........something weird going on there. (our post worked out to $8.70 per set of three mallets - that's cheaper than a package posted within a metro area here )

Thanks to section1 for bringing them to our attention

They wanted $45 US to ship one to me. I had second thoughts at that point...

I'm happy that you guys are happy but what about collin62 why are you getting charged so much? Are they getting greedy or did you choose the express post if they have one. Go back to the site and read the delivery options carefully and choose postage for tight arses.

    Hope this helps.

I should have mentioned that I'm in South Africa, so don't have all the same shipping options you do. In particular post is a problem, with theft and striking postal workers causing a few issues.
