Stanley No.10 Rabbet Plane
I have inherited a number of planes from my Dad, who passed away a coupe of years ago. I have managed to get them all sharp and working beautifully, which wasn't too hard since they were in good condition and well tuned. But I'm about to get to grips with his No.010 plane. (By the way Patrick's Blood and Gore website is excellent).
I have noticed that the blade has been honed with a slight curvature to it. I would have thought that this blade should be honed square. I'm sure it worked well for Dad, but can anyone help / advise on whether the blade should be honed square or with a slight curve?
Cheers

I would say that the blade should be square if it's to be used for rebates. He may have used it as a jack plane instead which would explain the curve.

I think these planes were sometimes refered to as a carraige makers plane. They don't seem to come up very often, so hang on to it. I can't comment on if the blade should be straight or radiused though. I've been meaning to get the cambered wheel for my veritas honing jig for a few days now. Hope the plane goes very well for you, look forward to seeing some pictures of it and the work it produces...

Definitely square for the 10. gets nicely into the corners of rebates. As said before might have been used as a smoother hence the camber.
