    Default Parts for Stanley 113

    Hi there,
Does anyone know where I can get spares for a Stanley 113 compass plane? The sole adjustment thread is stripped. Its a nasty bit of gear to get to, and too difficult for me to make, as it has a RH external and LH internal (or vice versa) threaded section, in brass:eek:
Before I managed to strip the thread, it went really well, a great tool to have in working order. If locating a replacement proves too hard, I'll find a hobby machinist to whip one up...or maybe that's wishful thinking!

    Cheers,
    Andy Mac

    Try Hans Brunner. http://www.hansbrunnertools.gil.com.au

If he doesn't have it he may be able to recommend an overseas supplier.

I think you'll have a very hard time finding a part like that, Andy. Patience will probably get one you eventually. Spose it depends how long your prepared to wait.

Though I agree with Mark. That Hanns Brunner bloke must have a shelves and shelves of all sorts of parts. He helped me out recently with a part I thought I'd never be able to get.

But if its made out of brass, and it stripped, maybe it will just happen again. Maybe its a poor design choice ; using brass that is. You might end up paying a heap for a part that will strip also.

I'd make a new one out of something stronger. But thats me.

good luck with it. I'll keep an eye out for it. Never know.

Hmmm. Following on from what Mr Tripper has said, perhaps a local machine shop could replicate the part - but use something like manganese bronze. Still get hold of an original if you can, though - just for appearances sake

    Cheers!
