It followed me home......honest
Hi All
Another week done and another visit to my favorite second hand shop has resulted in another saw following me home. This one is a 26 inch 6ppi rip saw.
Does anyone recognise this medallion? I know that a lot of saw makers used the "Warranted Superior" designation on their second class saws so I don't have a makers name. I had a look on the saw medallion guide over on lumberjocks and the central design closely resemmbles ones used by either J Beardshaw or WH Armitage.
Hopefully someone out there will have some more info.
cheers

English - but I don't know there's any rhyme or reason to specific designs.
Cheers,

Here's a couple of pics of the whole saw. The handle is quite nice and is very comfortable with the exception of a slight bulge in the back of the grip that doesn't sit quite right in my hand. I may need to just take that back a bit to make it more comfortable.
As Paul indicated it's narrowed down to English manufacture but unless an etch turns up on the blade I don't think it will get any closer than that to a manufacturer.
Still it looks like it might turn out to be a good user, but a descision will have to be made as I'm also doing up a Henry Boker 6 PPI rip saw. Which one to keep......... who am I kidding I'm going to end up keeping both.
cheers

It's got the whole Disston #7 look going on. If I had to guess, I'd say S&J or Tyzack just 'cos they had the most production as far as I know.
It looks pretty full-bladed.
Is the toothline straight? In the photo it looks concave ... maybe just camera-lies?
Cheers,
Paul
