Default Stanley # 71 router plane

There is possibly a post on this somewhere on here so this could be duplicated info. I bought a Stanley # 71 router plane for super cheap about 1 year ago but it wasn't complete and missing a cutter. I've just bought a Stanley # 71 router plane replacement blade by Veritas from Carbatec. Only thing to note is you have to invert the little thumb adjuster:

It's interesting - on about half of the Stanley 71s/71-1/2s I've seen, the adjuster is already in that orientation, and probably got there years before Lee Valley started making its cutters. Maybe they were prescient.

    Nice score. They're useful tools.

Thanks for the tip! I was lucky enough to pick up a brand-new, never used Stanley 71 about a year ago, but one of the cutters in the box had picked up enough rust to damage it, and it needs replacement - luckily, the other two cutters and the plane itself are in mint condition.

I'm still having a hard time persuading myself to actually use it...
