Default Stanley #8 and Stanley #62 LA Plane

Spotted today at Salamanca market in Hobart:
Stanley No 8. No patents. Stiff lever, keyhole lever cap(probably a replacement). Very good condition. Asking $280

Stanley No 62 low Angle plane. In very good order. Looks better than this one . Asking $320
    Cheers

That is a very good price for a #62 if it is in good condition. Check the mouth carefully for cracks. These planes are built from grey cast iron and the thin soles were their weak area.

I have one and I do use it. Neverheless, it is not a good user at that price - the LV LA Jack (#62 1/2) is far, far better - and a lot cheaper. Consider the #62 more of a collector's item.

    Regards from Perth

    Shedhand,

The #8 is too expensive. I bought a type 11 for half that price on ebay.

Ah, no worries then. I noticed some nice #8's over the last few weeks. It'd be good to see a pic when you get it.
