Something I learned a long time ago in my professional life: don't give people a choice unless you absolutely have to.
My vote is for the middle one."I don't practice what I preach because I'm not the kind of person I'm preaching to."

Mic - I do not own any Stanley planes, I hate the buggers, I cannot give you a more detail answer because I do not know. I am depending on fellow members to supply the technical details for the Stanley Plane Blades. If you have a technical question ask someone else. My advice to get a lever cap is just out of caution.
Mic it maybe best that you drop out of this order, and go and spend $600 buying your 5 blades from Paul himself.
The only reason I am bothering to do this is because some people asked me to do it. I am not getting anything out of this, no money no blades nothing and I am doing this out of kindness of my heart. Its costing me hours of work and money.

I think this site will help out http://www.lie-nielsen.com/catalog.php?sku=CB
Importantly, note the diagram at the bottom of the page. There are only two measurements that LN want you to take note of - the width and the height to the bottom of the yoke slot. I think that's a good indication that the other measurements aren't critical, or, that they can be derived from those two.
IMO, I think the original cap iron will still fit, because otherwise Hock and LN would make you buy a replacement cap iron when you buy one of their replacement blades. But I can appreciate Helmut's reservations about claiming that they will work, when it's not possible for him to test them before making up this batch up blades.
I think the best way to resolve this is to base all the measurements (for both blades) on the Hock blades, because its a proven formula. That way people will be confident that the Helmut blade will work with their existing cap iron.
Please don't flame me for this post.

I am cautious because I cannot guarantee.

Hi TS.. Sorry for not singing out earlier Lightning killed my modem.
I'll most definitely be in for 4xNo4 blades 2xNo3 blades 4xNo7 and 2xNo8 blades if we are going D2 or M2 (chip breakers for the lot)
S390 doesn't tickle me all that much but if thats the way you go I'll throw in for a couple of #4's out of curiosity.

haosiliu235 asked about the prices for the Stanley Plane Blades and Chipbreaker.
So incase you missed it earlier in the thread:
The prices quoted are estimates, give or take no more then a few dollars.
It all depends as usual on how many people join in. The bigger our order the bigger the discount we will get from the grinding, milling, heat treatment, and etc companies for our order.
I however cannot approach these companies unless I known what I want or I will just be F'ing them around and then they will F us around by charging us more. I have done this a few times and that is just how it goes down.
I hope to give final numbers next week sometime, however the worst case the blades would be about $20 each for the Stanley Replacement Blade and the chipbreaker maybe $12.

Wouldwould has sent me this PDF of the the design for the plane blades. We have gone for a classical Tombstone theme.

Love the shape of the top of the blade TS.. are you planning to have all the blades signed?\
I would far prefer clean unmarked blades.

Yes Darren,
Henry Ford had it right with the
"any colour they want, as long as it's black" motto.
Helmut
my order above in green is correct as long as the number 4 and 5 blades are interchangeable, which I'm pretty sure they are. I'll still have the 50x6x100blade as well as the other 150x6x60 from batch #2.
Thanks

I've done some further measuring of the distance from the bottom of the chipbreaker to the bottom of the yoke slot for a 4 1/2, 5 1/2 6 or 7 Hock chipbreaker. I originally said it was 3 3/4 inches. My further checks indicate that it is 3.765 inches. Feel free to add the extra .015 inches if you think it would matter, but I would just leave it at 3 3/4 inches.
I double checked this with my metric callipers, they gave me 95.5 millimetres exactly. This equates to 3.75984252 inches. Feel free to add the extra .00984252 inches if you think it matters, but again, I would just leave it at 3 3/4 inches.
(Going for the smaller measurement would reduce the risk of the blade not being able to be fully retracted.)
I note that Mic-d got measurements of 95.6 and 96.2mm using Stanley 4 1/2 and 6 chipbreakers.
I also measured the chipbreaker bevel angle, I make it 35 degrees.
