I am inclined to say no. For everyone that does not like the curves their is other who do.
Its all or nothing. These batch orders only ever works because of economics of scale. If the majority of people want a specific shape, then sure. The other reason is that the tombstone shape is unique and in 100 years you people will be able to spot the forum blades.

Helmut
I would support your view, plus it is an aid to remembering which blade is which, a very important aid when one has difficulty in remembering where things have been put away, what day it is etc. etc
At least I can still remember where the workshop is !!
Regards & many thanks for all your efforts.

Helmut
I have compared your dimensions against both a Record and Academy Saws blade, and show variations in the attached. the overall length I believe should probably be around 49 / 50mm as mine would have some wear on them.
The 'dogbone' shape of the adjusting slots are also important as this permits the blade to be canted, with one side of the blade taking a thicker cut than the other. I would also suggest making the adjuster slots wider to about 12mm as I find those on my Academy blade foul the collars on the adjuster nuts, making adjustment difficult.
Regards

As per the PM, here is some measurements of the spokeshave blade.
It's from a Stanley 151 and it's actual measurements from this particular blade, not sure how much wear it's been subjected to as I've only just gotten hold of it.
Hope this is helpful.

Just quickly rechecked the measurements and the dogbone holes are probably closer to 4mm diameter.

1x 2" and 1x 2 3/8" blade only, unbevelled is fine.
Many thanks,
Steve.

stuffy I have added you to the list.
I have updated the spoke shave drawing.
I need to confirm the distance between the two dog bone slots and the distance the dog bone is from the edge of the blade. Marked as Dist. A and Dist. B.
I have added the dog bone, see image for details.

I have made the distance from the cutting edge to the bottom of the centre cut out 14 mm, this will allow for 0.2 mm for the laser, plus initial grinding the bevel.

Rebate Plane Blade & Cap Iron Drawings
Vann was kind enough to do the CAD work based on a his No. 10 Rebate Plane Blade & Cap Iron.
If you are as part of this order and you are getting a 2 1/8" Blade and Cap Iron for a No. 10 and a No. 10 1/2 rebate plane. Then take the time to compare Vann's drawings with your existing plane blade and cap iron.
Please forward any comments to myself Thumbsucker via PM or this thread.
Vann feels confident that this combination should fit most Stanley or Record No. 10 or No. 10 1/2.

Rebate Plane Irons
I obtained these measurement from my Record 010 and 010½ rabbet planes, and added 'Tombstone' tops. My rabbet irons are the type with the flat tops (1932 to mid 1950s).
Record copied the Stanley rabbets of the period (1932), so as Helmut says, I feel confident that this combination should fit most Stanley or Record No.10 or No.10½ planes.
Nevertheless I'm only human, so if other owners could check their irons to make sure I haven't made a mistake , or to suggest improvements - that would be appreciated.

Measurements from left side along dogbones on the 151 blade.
Left edge to dogbone 3mm (distance A)
Dogbone 12mm
Between the dogbones 23.5mm (distance B)
Dogbone 12mm
Dogbone to Right edge 3mm
Dogbones are definitely 12mm long, not 11mm.
If you want more accurate figures I can get the vernier out tomorrow, these ones are measured with my steel ruler to the nearest 0.5mm... or so.

1 x 2" with cap iron and screw and bevel
1 x 2 3/8" with cap iron, screw and bevel

EDIT NO, don't need a spokeshave blade

Order Adjustment
Hi TS,
Noticed that I'm down for a 2 5/8" cap iron - not sure why that is, but you can remove that from my order.
Cheers
