Hello Glenlara, I'm slightly confused; if there are 598 blades to be sorted, where did the extra 286 blades come from, and where are they going? AFAIK when Thumsucker photographed the finished batch on 22/07/2011, he wrote in this forum that the number was 312.

See, it's important to use the correct terminology. They're irons not blades. 312 of them are cutting irons and 286 are cap irons

    Many thanks

Well bugger me. There are a lot of them what ever they are called. I still have not got them yet. I have not heard again from DJ. He is going to let me know when I can come and get them.

These really can't come soon enough for me - I'm currently jointing 42mm thick, 1800mm long oak boards for a tabletop, and the stanley cheese blades I'm using really aren't cutting the mustard!!

I'll ship you over a Veritas jointer NZStu, to borrow.

    Be quicker.

I appreciate TS's great work on this and the other volunteers' offers of help.

What respect I had for DJ has gone out of the window. It seems to me his task is to hand the job over to Glenlara, bless him, and I'm not seeing that happen. Not happy Jan.

(Glenlara, I originally ordered 3 sets and as time went by sold 2 to other forum members. I provided TS with the forum member names; I only have one left on record, Chipbreaker, and will pass on to him your postal address request. I don't have a record of the other member but TS should have.)
    Cheers, Ern

Well, there's your problem! Wholegrain mustard seeds are notoriously hard. Chipped a tooth on one once. Never really recovered.

I got fed up waiting months ago and bought a WR plane from Jim Davey with one of his nice sharp blades to tide me over.

I hope Glenlara doesn't become tainted in the fiasco.

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

    Ahh, such optimism

We have to remember that TS, and DJ have been doing this in their spare time, and for little or no reward.

I know it's frustrating, but I'm sure DJ didn't want to need his operation AND he has to earn a living while recuperating. We'll get our irons when we get our irons. After the success of the first order (and other orders) we know we're not being ripped-off. We've just got to wait a bit longer...

Yes of course volunteers must find the time. That's what they put their hands up for.

But if memory serves it's taken months to get to the point where TS and DJ have agreed to hand over the distribution to someone else given DJ's continued incapacity. All that's now needed is to agree on a hand over time, which is just a couple of emails surely?

I've taken 2 grand's worth of forum members' money on trust in a bulk buy from o/s. Trust entails responsibility. Given the number of offers here to take over that responsibility in this case, I'm left wondering what the problem is.
    Cheers, Ern

Sorry for the delay, I can't do anything until I get the "irons". Any ideas?

Glenlara I sent you a PM.

I am running around like maniac sending emails, pm's and make telephone calls only to be ignored and stone walled from people who made me promises,

Glenlara is coming up against the same problem, that I have and he is only down the road from Dj.

I know I am the a-hole, sure blame me,
But hell, one thing gets delayed and its time to linch me from the nearest fraken tree. Lucky we are not in the same room.

    I hear you TS.

Rest assured there are many who are more than happy to wait patiently and trust you are doing all you can.

To all the others, chill out a little!
