Chisel plane?
Hey all
My bullnose plane hit the deck big time (you might say it took a bull-nose dive) and broke off its nose! Determined to make a positive out of this, I ground the break smooth, and now have a little chisel plane, which has already proven itself more useful than the bullnose was!
Made me wonder - is there such thing as a big chisel/bullnose plane? Like, #4 size? I'm thinking one would be so handy for a job like this:
Cheers
Will

Gday Will
There have been plenty of ultra rare No4 bull nose Stanleys on ebay, a few have sparked threads here, every now and then a broken and ground No4 gets bid up quite high
I don't know how handy they'd be.. I'd suggest you pick up the next cheap falcon No4 (usually cheap as) you see and take to it with hacksaw. see if it does the job for you. I'd think you'd have to keep your cuts very fine.

Yup
A Stanley 97 is 10" long - see Patrick Leach's Blood and Gore http://www.supertool.com/StanleyBG/stan11.htm
Plane central http://www.handplane.com/stanley-no-...ers-edge-plane suggests these go for 450USD up
Makes the LN one a snip at 200USD in beastly bronze (what's wrong with nice non marring iron) http://www.lie-nielsen.com/catalog.php?sku=975
(OTOH, hacksaw blades are much cheaper)
