strange plane
Hello, be kind, this is my first post and this machine and I have an oil/water relationship. Have received a plane in a lot of four bought in US via ebay. Body has made in usa cast onto heel and blade has keystone made in usa on it. It has the general appearance of a stanley 110 but is slightly smaller. Anyone know anything about it?

Gnu,
There are a number of people who know a lot about planes on this site. I'd suggest taking a digital photo of it and attaching it.
BTW - welcome aboard!
Regards,
Mike.

"Keystone" is a brandname used by Disston, generally for their cheaper line of saws. For example, I have a Disston Keystone #5 12" tenon saw, and this dates to about 1920-30. I have never heard of their making planes, however.
From the size of the block plane you describe, it is likely that you have one based on the Stanley #102 (try this link for comparison: http://www.supertool.com/StanleyBG/stan12.htm#num102).
It is quite possible that Stanley (or Sargent, a close competitor at the time) made planes for Disston, which were marketed under the Keystone label.
Regards from Perth

Checked out the site you mentioned. this plane is larger than the 102 but smaller than a 110. An oddball size, fits in here. The blade though iis of good quality, only took a couple of minutes from rust to slicing paper. Thanks for your help.
